FAQ

I am concerned about my mom living alone in Palm Beach Gardens. She is 89 and had a fall recently. Since the fall she limits her outdoor activities. How can I get her evaluated for physical therapy at home?

Aging parents living alone is common and you have every right to be concerned.  Action Home Therapy will be happy to coordinate with your mom’s primary care physician for a prescription for home therapy.   Please call our office and speak with one of our care coordinators to learn more.

If I have a complex, medical chronic, what are the benefits of having physical therapy at home versus outpatient therapy?

In some situations, it may be more practical to address mobility skills in a patient's own home versus in a clinic setting.  The physical therapist can address real life situation and make suggestions for adaptive devices in order to maintain a safe home environment.

If I have Medicare, how does the payment work?

If you or someone you love has Medicare, home physical therapy is covered under your Part B insurance plan.  Outpatient physical therapy is also covered by Part B.  Depending if you have a secondary or supplemental insurance, you may be responsible for 20% of the cost of service.

If my doctor writes a prescription for physical therapy, how long will the prescription last?

What do I need to do, I have Medicare and not sure if I am eligible to receive home physical therapy?

If you are not sure if you are eligible to receive home physical therapy and have Medicare, please call and speak with our care coordinator.

What is the difference between inpatient therapy and outpatient physical therapy?

When you hear the term inpatient rehabiliation, it generally refers to medical and therapy services you receive while in a hospital or sub acute rehabilitation center.  Outpatient rehabilitation refers to physical therapy provided by a health care agency such as a Medicare home health provider or a rehabilitation clinic.

What is the difference between physical therapy at home versus going to an outpatient clinic?

Physical therapy in a clinic allows a social aspect that some older adults may be seeking.  Exercise machines for strengthening play an intricate part in the therapy session. In-home physical therapy allows therapists to come to you where use of their expertise offers a private, personalized experience.
